Make Cheap Electronic Labels For Your Stuff Using RFID Tags

Do you need to keep track of hundreds or thousands of different items? Maybe you have a CD collection that has been growing for years and constantly trying to remember what you own or where the CD is currently located is taking up your time and money. You may want to create a database of everything you own but how do you track the physical items? RFID tags can help.

Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) is an method of tracking physical materials through a small flat transponder attached to the item. You can apply an RFID tag to an object and use radio waves to read and track the item. A standard RFID tag contains an integrated circuit for storing the information you can read and an antenna for transmitting the signal. Many companies and manufactures use RFID in their supply chain management process. The companies apply RFID tags to the items to track and they are able to track their supply easily. You can use the same ideas behind large supply chain management to your home.

You may have heard about RFID tags tracking our every move and are aphrenrsive about tagging the items in your home. After all, you really would not want someone with an RFID reader to be able to see what you have in your home. Labeling your home inventory and collections with RFID will not announce to other people what you own because the tags will actually not have any specific information on them. To begin labeling your products at home, you should purchase passive RFID tags. Passive RFID does not actively broadcast a signal, the RFID information is only readable by a RFID reader in close proximity. If you are cautious about possible exposure of your inventory to others you can test your reader and your RFID tags before applying the labels to your products.

RFID tags are so small now that you can actually purchase labels that contain a RFID chip embedded in the paper. The chips are also very thin so you may not even notice the chip at all. If you want to make labels for a collection of products or to mark your home inventory, choose a label that is not too large and fits your budget. The paper labels are so easy to use that you may start to label everything you come in contact with. You can usually find these RFID labels at stores that sell products to warehouses or online. If this is your first purchase of RFID labels, you may want to seek out a store in your town and discuss your options with a sales clerk. Many companies will try to sell you a printer, labels, and an elaborate RFID reader but there really is no need to over purchase your supplies. All you need are the labels and a RFID reader, which can be purchased second hand through Ebay or other website. If you visit a local store, you may want to request a demonstration of different readers and different labels in order to choose the right labels for your needs.

You will need to purchase an inventory database program for your computer, of if you have the time and the desire, you could make your own. There are many different database programs available online, it is simply a matter of finding the program that meets your needs. To keep your work down, choose a database program that can store the RFID information in them. This allows you to enter all the data pertaining to the items you want to track into one location and scan the RFID label you attach to the product. Also, you may want to spend a little time thinking about why you are labeling the items in your home in order to purchase the best database program for your needs. If you loan items in your collection out, you can use your database to track which items you have loaned out. If you want to create a home inventory in case of loss or theft, your database program can be much easier and simpler.

Because of the demands of many large companies, RFID tags have become very thin and very cheep. You really do not need to do anything special to create a useable RFID label for your home, just slap a pre-made paper label on the items you want to track. With the proper database program and reader you will not need to write anything on the label, just attach, scan the chip, and record the data on your computer. The hard part of this tracking process, will be collecting the data into a database you can use. There are several companies that sell a database and RFID reader package to allow the home user to start an RFID inventory. And who knows, once you begin using RFID tags in your home, you may start to discover additional uses for these handy RFID tags.

Computers in 10 Years What Will It Be Like?

When computers first came into existence during the 20th century, the computers took up entire rooms and were only able to perform simple mathematical formulas. In addition, these computers had to be rewired and reprogrammed every time the operators needed to change or update a function. Today’s technology advances are allowing computers to become more powerful and much smaller every year. Think about it, how big was your first computer and what is the size of the computer your using now? Chances are the computer you have now is much smaller and more powerful than your first computer. If we continue on this path towards small powerful computers, what will our computers look like in ten years?

Imagine your next computer being based upon a glass of water. While today you need to avoid getting water anywhere near your computer and electronics in general, researchers have already demonstrated that water is able to create an ultra-dense storage system that computers and other electronic devices can use. Researchers have developed a method to use small amounts of water to stabilize the memory bits of nanowire that is barely three-billionths of a meter wide. As this technology progresses we may find that water will increase the memory and storage capacity of our computers and allows us to use new and different materials in our computers and technology.

Maybe, your next computer will not be based on a glass of water but what is living in the water. A computer built from E. Coli bacteria has already successfully started to solve mathematical puzzles. The bacteria computer actually completed a mathematical problem faster than a standard computer based upon the silicon CPU chip. Bacteria computing is based upon the idea of DNA computing and can actually process the same data we use our computers for today. Each strand of DNA is able to process bits of data independently while still creating a useable whole. Ok, it may not be appealing to have a dish of bacteria sitting on your desk but DNA computing is one technological advancement that researchers are working on daily and we will see the technology learnings applied to our computers in the future.

If bacteria is not your idea of a perfect computer, why not consider a magnetic trap that holds quantum qubits. Qubits are very similar to the bits we currently use to represent data in our computers. In our computers today, the bits store data as either a 0 or 1 which is considered very linear (there is only two choices and no in-between). When using qubits, we can represent data as 0, 1, or both 0 and 1 at the same time, instead of data being very linear qubits allow our data to become 3-dimensional. When one qubit interacts with another qubit, we create a quantum qubit computing platform that is the basis for 3-dimensional computing. Once we start to use quantum qubits in our computers we will not need to represent 3D images on our computer screen because they will be created around us in the magnetic trap process the qubits.

If your a person on the go, you probably own at least one portable laptop computer. Ten years from now, your entire portable computing process may change as well. Instead of carrying a heavy computer, it would be much nicer to have a piece of expensive jewelry instead? Diamonds actually make much faster computer chips than the current silicone we use, however since natural diamonds are very expensive we continue to use silcone. Currently advances in technology and our knowledge of geological processes has opened up the ability to create diamonds in a lab. Man-made diamonds are virtually identical to diamonds made by the earth. Since we no longer need to wait for the earth to produce the diamonds we need for our computers all we need is for the price of man-made diamonds to become affordable. Then CPU manufacturers will begin to create computer chips that are much faster than the computers we have now and and we can begin to move toward jewelry as a computer.

Finally, our computers may become a pile of photosensitive molecules. Molecular computing focuses on similar ideas to DNA computing and creates a process where the computational power of individual molecules is harnessed to create faster processing. Photosensitive molecules can use the energy of light to fuel the computing power of the molecules. Researchers believe that molecules and molecular computing will create faster computer that are more cost efficient, save energy, and are smaller in size.

Whatever our computers look like in ten years, one thing is for certain, we will be using smaller computers with more power. Researchers may be pushing computing processes to the extreme but every day new advances in DNA and molecular computing are pushing the envelope and creating faster computers based upon materials that surround us in life.

How to Boost Cognition

Do you often find yourself trying to remember things from your life and failing? Do you need to learn a lot of facts or details in your job and never seem to be able to remember everything completely? Or maybe you simply want to be able to concentrate on a project for longer than fifteen minutes. If any of this is familiar to you, it is time to boost your cognition and improve your memory. Technology allows us new methods of brain stimulation and memory tools. You no longer need to resort to creating paper flash cards and quizzing yourself hourly. You can use your computer and technology in general to help improve your memory.

One software program that can help boost your memory is SuperMemo. SuperMemo is a database of material you need to learn. You can either create your own database of information to learn or use a pre-created database. During a review session, SuperMemo quizzes you on the material in its database and tracks your responses. Then, depending on the goals you set for yourself in SuperMemo, the program creates the ideal review program for the material you need to learn. You will not spend time reviewing information you already know because SuperMemo tracks the information you already knows and helps you to focus on the facts and information you still need to learn. Psychologists believe that improving your memory requires repeatedly study and SuperMemo is able to help you study efficiently.

If you are trying to boost your memory to help learn unfamiliar items, you may want to create a mnemonic device. Mnemonic devices associate lists of items with other words or acronyms. Mnemonic devices are can be either silly new sentences or entire stories and usually devising the mnemonic terms is hard if your brain is not working at its full capacity. To aid in creating a mnemonic device, there are many programs available on the internet that can help you. One such website is The Mnemonicizer which can help you build the best mnemonic device for the information you are trying to learn. The sillier the mnemonic saying you create, the easier it will be to remember the information for the long term so if you are stuck on a list of material you need to learn quickly, give the mnemonic device a try.

Improving your cognition increases not only your ability to remember items you have learned or been exposed to but your ability to think and communicate as well. The human brain starts to slow down as we age and there is evidence that this slowing begins as early as age 30. By playing simple brain games we can halt this brain slowdown and in many cases actually speed our brains up again. Lumosity is a brain training program that has been developed to be fun and engaging while allowing our brains to be challenged and worked. The Lumosity program is a scientifically designed brain training process. This program contains many different computer games designed to be entertaining and brain stimulating at the same time. After you being to play the brain games available through Lumosity, you will discover that not only are you able to concentrate better and think in a clear and concise manner but you actually feel better emotionally and physically.

Even when you do not have time to spend on a brain game or quizzing yourself with SuperMemo, you can still use technology to boost your cognition. Sometimes our brains may either not know or forget how to create the brain waves necessary for learning and concentration. Remember, our brains start to slow down around the age of 30 and part of this slow down may be forgetting how to create certain brain wave patterns. A brain enhancement CD is designed to stimulate your brain to create brain wave patterns similar to the patterns found in highly intelligent and over-achieving individuals. Do not worry, this will not hurt, all you need to do is listen to the CD containing music and sounds while studying, reading, or performing tasks that need increased concentration. You can even incorporate the sounds into your own music playlists and into some music streamed from the internet which will allow you to listen to the music you enjoy and improve your cognition at the same time.

Whatever process or program you decide to use in order to boost your cognition, you do need to change your process periodically in order to re-stimulate your brain and to avoid muscle memory. If you constantly perform the same learning process again and again, you take the chance on memorizing the process which will stop the process of brain stimulation necessary to boost your cognition. Keep boosting your cognition and you will soon discover that not only are you able to remember items better but you will have a better outlook on life in general.

Cybernetics Advancements

Cybernetics is a large field of study with the goal of defining and creating processes and goals for systems. The study of cybernetics started in the late 19th century and grew in popularity durning the technology boom of the late 20th century. Most fields of cybernetics examine the idea of taking one form of something and apply what is learned to make the design and function of another system. Cybernetics in general is so broad that almost every advance in technology and manufacturing is covered in the field of cybernetics somehow. However, most of us understand the most popular application of cybernetics which is the application of human ideas and actions to artificial intelligence and artificial devices.

Robotics is one of the branches of cybernetics. This year doctors are seeing robotic surgery changing the medical field drastically. Many hospitals have plans to install million dollar robotic surgery systems. During a robotic surgery, the surgeon controls a robot from behind a console that provides a magnified, three-dimensional view of the patient and the area being operated on. The robot is programmed with the principles of anatomy and is able to carry out the commands of the surgeon but with much finer movements then a human is able to reproduce. By allowing the robot to carry out the surgery, the patient is subjected to less cutting. By performing precise surgery, robots are able to help reduce the risk of complications from surgery giving the patient a shorter recovery time.

Robots are also entering the work force and replacing humans on assembly lines. In Japan alone, it is believed that there are over a million robot factory workers. These robots workers complete tedious and repetitive tasks allowing human workers to focus on more productive actions. Robots are able to work in highly dangerous locations that humans could not be subjected to as well. Advances in the robotic field have caused the cost for a robot worker to become more cost effective for factories and manufacturers and in areas of the world where the population is aging or there is a lack of unskilled labor, robots are the answer when looking for new employees. Robots are becoming more human in their movements and appearance but still have the ability to complete tasks with more precise skill and less error.

Bionics is another area in the cybernetics field that most people have probably heard about in the past. Bionics focuses on taking items from human biology and applying technology to them. One of the greatest advancements in cybernetics is the creation of a controllable artificial bionic body part. We are seeing artificial bionic arms starting to become reality thanks to bionics. There are already 200 people in the world who have a bionic arm and more people are receiving artificial arms each year. The artificial i-LIMB hand contains micro-motors in each finger that is controlled by electrical impulses from our muscles in a manner similar to how our actual fingers are controlled by our muscles. It does take some training in order to use the i-LIMB bionic arm but through practice people it becomes nearly impossible to distinguish the artificial limb from a natural limb.

If you use an internet search engine you may soon find your search results enhanced by artificial intelligence. Next generation search engines may provide you results not only for what you specifically typed as your search query but extrapolate what you really are looking for based upon past experience. The application of intelligence and logic is another branch of cybernetics. Researchers are currently working on an intelligent computer interfaces that will be able to understand our sentences and clarify words and saying that could have a double meaning. No longer will we need to use archaic programing terms to narrow down our search query because the artificial intelligence will be able to understand natural language clearly thanks to the science of cybernetics.

Advancements in the field of cybernetics are being reported by researchers every month. The ideas of being able to create artificial body parts, improve computer technologies, and build more human-like robots are compelling to researchers and universities around the world however these are not the only fields of study under the umbrella of cybernetics. Mathematics, psychology, organizational management, and even ergonomics are considered subfield of cybernetics and sometimes the advances in cybernetics are so specialized that you may not even be aware that the cybernetics is involved. How has cybernetics affected your life? You probably have not been operated on by a robot or replaced your arm with an i_LIMB but look around your home and think about your work processes. You will be surprised when you start to pay attention because you will discover that most of the new products and new work processes you come into contact with are thanks to cybernetics.

Technology and Sex!

Technology improvements and research is constantly changing our lives for the better. Technology has improved our medical care, helps us save the environment, and improves our building materials and homes. Every industry has been changed because of technology including the adult entertainment or porn business. Did you know that technology has made the porn industry a billion dollar business? You may be someone who believes that internet is the modern day Sodom or Gomorrah but you do have to admit that technology is opening the minds of many people and has greatly improved the sex lives of people around the world.

Who can forget the medical miracle of Viagra and other erectile disfunction drugs? Without advances in medical technology and medical research these little pills would not be available. Without Viagra and other erectile disfunction medications many men around the world would not be able to perform sexual acts as they and their partner desire. It is said that Viagra ignited a sexual revolution in the senior citizen community and studies show this belief is true. Before Viagra most people found their sexual desire to wane around the age of 70 but now more than a quarter of all people over the age of 85 are now having sex on a regular basis and enjoying every minute of their sex lives again.

Men are not the only sex benefiting from medical research and technology advances. Research into hormones and the synthesis of hormone replacement therapies is helping women cope with menopause allowing women to enjoy sex as they age. Before technology opened the world of hormone replacement therapy, many women found that sex was lackluster or even painful after menopause but now women are also enjoying sex well into retirement. Many ailments that once caused men and women to cease enjoying sexual relationships are now treatable through a pill or medication. In fact, many of these drugs are available over the counter and without a doctor’s prescription.

Advancements in medical technology have also have helped to not only make medication that can help men and women improve their sex lives but medical technology has improve plastic surgery procedures as well. Forget about liposuction or breast enhancements designed to make a women look more attractive to another person many plastic surgery techniques can help a women personally enjoy the sexual act better. Women are now able to undergo a vaginal rejunivation process designed to tighnten vaginal muscels quickly and safely. After childbirth, a woman may find that sexual stimulation is hard or not as pleasurable as it was before childbirth. Vaginal rejunivation processes are designed to return a women’s vaginal muscles to a state found before childbirth.

If applying lasers to your body in order to improve sexual stimulation is not your preferred method of improving your sex life, many women are having collagen injections instead. Collagen plumps the skin around the injection and many plastic surgeons are using college to help women boost sexual sensation in the vaginal area. Again as women age and progress through life, they undergo many changes and stresses on their sexual organs and improvements in technology and plastic surgery allows collagen injections applied to certain ares of the vagina to improve a female’s enjoyment of sex.

The internet has allowed individuals to share their desires and fantasies anonymously. People who feel unfulfilled by their personal sexual activity can seek out other people who share the same desires. No matter what your desire or your fantasy, you can find someone who shared your desire on the internet and you can even discuss these fantasies without anyone in your life knowing about it. Before the internet it was much harder for many individuals to find like minded people. The internet allows people to explore their fantasies without engaging in dangerous or illegal actions.

The internet has also succeeded in spreading Western ideals of women’s liberation to countries around the world. In countries where women were seen as commodities in the past, feministic ideas are slowly starting to seep into society. Women are slowly moving into the workplace and learning to be equal partners in society. Equal partners means equal in all activities and that includes sex, thanks to technology women are learning that sex should be an enjoyable act. In India, sex toys are now being introduced into the market and over 57 percent of the population has expressed desire in purchasing a toy.

It goes without saying that technology has been applied to many sex toys as well. Improvements in plastics and in the technology of motors has changed the look and feel of many sex toys. Even birth control medications and products have been improved due to advanced in medical and technological research. Birth control pills no longer bombard a woman’s body with unnecessary hormones or drugs. Condoms are now able to vibrate. Lubrication products can increase sensation for both men and women and will chemically interact with either when combined together to produce new and unusual sensations.

Sexual desire is strong and compelling for all adults and technology is working hard to improve our sex lives. Even if you have no interest in taking part in the billion dollar porn business look around your bedroom, you may discover that technology has aided and improved your sex life.

10 Products and Services that will be replaced by Computers and Robots Very Shortly

1. Bank Tellers: The proliferation of online banking means that the brick and mortar bank is soon on its way to fossilization and a place in a museum. If the Automated Transaction Machine (ATM) had not already given the personal teller a clear signal that he or she was no longer an entirely necessary service, the now ubiquitous online banking services offered by all major and minor banks across the nation will certainly spell the end for redundant tellers.

2. Paper: Paper is resource that has cost the earth heavily when it comes to carbon sinks such as the South American rainforest and soil stabilizers such as the evergreen forests of the northwest United States. So it is with a happy countenance that we predict the redundancy of paper within the next decade or so, as electronic documents take over the niche formerly filled by blank sheets.

3. Insurance Agents: Door to door insurance agents, thankfully, will soon become a distant past memory, as more and more insurance companies realize the advantages of peddling their insurance packages online and making themselves available to customers actually seeking their services for a fraction of the cost of face to face solicitation.

4. Travel Agents: Fewer and fewer travel consumers are going to brick and mortar travel agents as the majority of travel plans are being made online. Travel agents will still operate, but their range of service will be greatly expanded as fewer and wider geographic barriers will exist. What’s more, efficiency will be greatly enhanced, as agents will no longer wait for customers to come to the agency location, but will serve a much larger online market.

5. Real Estate Agents: Buying and selling homes and property has become an almost entirely online experience. From perusing the real estate news to scanning lists of available for sale homes to the communication between agents and clients, the process is rarely completed on a face to face level. Moreover, real estate agents are becoming redundant service, as sellers are able to get in touch with buyers directly and cut out the expense of a flesh and blood agent.

6. Music Stores: Virgin Records and HMV will very shortly be closing their doors in many locations as the demand for brick and mortar music stores decreases to nothing and more and more of the total percentage of music sales occurs online. I-Tunes has already paved the way for music to be distributed entirely online and, in doing so, cutting out large amounts of overhead cost while not passing that saving on to the consumer who seems happy to continue paying the same rate online as he or she would in a conventional music store.

7. Cable Television: With cable consumers less and less satisfied with the rates and packages available through conventional cable providers, and with digital and satellite services often outside an average consumers budget, online television will be become ever more prevalent as the millennium progresses. For instance, for fifty dollars, a consumer can usually purchase twenty eight channels. Some of those channels broadcast the same content, sometimes at the same time, while almost eighty percent of the content will have no interest to the consumer whatsoever. It seems only logical that a pay per channel or even per program service online would attract a substantial proportion of the television entertainment dollar.

8. Movie Theaters: Movie theaters across the country are hemorrhaging money as fewer and fewer consumers choose the traditional venues of entertainment and their attention is ever increasingly split between film, television, music, and other forms of entertainment. As a result, Hollywood and other worldwide film production and distribution centers will have to explore new routes to get their products to the consumer. For films, the obvious route is online distribution. Movies, both released and unreleased are already widely illegally distributed online, so it only makes good business sense to make clean and easy to work down loadable copies of films available online to compete with bootleggers and provide a new alternative revenue stream. Like music, similar fees could be charged for downloads as for more costly distribution methods such as theaters and stores.

9. AM/FM Radio: The AM and FM channels are quickly being replaced by satellite radio and by live streaming over the internet. Live streaming in particular is a virtual twin to a on-air broadcast, except the signal quality of live streaming is easier to control and can be received anywhere with the proper connection.

10. Ticket Agents: High street ticket agents are a thing of the past now that the internet has revolutionized the way we buy tickets. In years to come there will be no high street ticket agents what-so-ever, all tickets will be purchased on the internet with ease and without the hassle of all that queuing malarkey.
