I’ve been trying to wean myself off Windows for a while now,and thanks to Ubuntu and the like I can treat Linux as a mouse driven os,much like xp etc,without ever going near bash.

With all due respect, computer science is a very broad degree, it cannot be substituted by just ten books.

i have tried this idea with alot of sucess using many different medias such as cardboard and tin foil parabolas,wound wire,solar panels,etc….i just want the admin to know -and everyone else-that this was a wonderful post and i currently have acess to quite a few new and used satelite dishes that have been written off by the manufacturing company…they are not stolen,or damaged,they are just forgotten and written off…they do work very well for wifi internet,..dont be affraid to try it but as the admin said it may make it very powerful and the fcc does tend to monitor such things…rarely but surely…

I don’t think that the poster meant that these books will completely replace a cs degree in all aspects. Instead, that these books will help you to code as if you had a degree.

It’s unrealistic to say to an employer, ‘I am familiar with such-and-such books’ and expect that they will understand that you are on the level of a college graduate.

So although they may not replace a degree, they’re probably excellent as extracurricular supplement.
