I’ve been trying to wean myself off Windows for a while now,and thanks to Ubuntu and the like I can treat Linux as a mouse driven os,much like xp etc,without ever going near bash.

I switched from Windows 3 years ago, at first it was difficult.
But I am Very Happy I switched to Linux.

This is a great article. I agree that most people do not know how much they rely on Linux as the backbone to the internet and most applications that are commonly used.

It’s weird. People not using Linux tend to dislike it. But once they start to use Linux, they become a fan. I saw that many times.

Woot! Go linux! Been running it for a little over one year, and it is amazing. Its cool to know that this is where so many of todays technological advances started. Some of those, like bluetooth, i had no idea about.

lokesh – What the hell are you talking about? Google doesn’t run ANY BSD servers, it’s all Linux. And Linux is actually beating the snot out of BSD as a server operating system. Linux runs 60% of the Internet, for cripes sake. Do some research before spouting BSD fanboy nonsense.

I even found out the other day that my 42″ television has linux, at least thats what it says in the book, about gnu and linux headers etc

UNIX is responsible for most of those things… not Linux. Linux just ’shared’ the ideas.
